Historic Event in Al-Khawkhah Combines Loyalty to Martyr Abdulrahman Hajri with the Inauguration of the Tihami Movement’s Political Bureau

Al-Khawkhah, Al-Hudaydah – August 5, 2025

The district of Al-Khawkhah in Al-Hudaydah governorate witnessed a major event today, carrying deep political and national significance. A memorial service was held for the martyred Sheikh Abdulrahman Hajri, a leader of the Tihami Movement and a founder of the Tihami Resistance. Concurrently, the Tihami Movement’s Political Bureau was inaugurated in a move described as “historic” for organizing political action and unifying Tihama’s ranks. The event was attended by a wide range of state and local authority leaders, military and security officials, sheikhs, dignitaries, and crowds from various Tihami districts.

The event saw an official presence represented by the Governor of Al-Hudaydah, Dr. Al-Hasan Taher, who, in his speech, praised the struggle of the late Hajri, describing him as a fundamental pillar in launching the Tihami Movement and the voice and living conscience of Tihama. The Governor also conveyed greetings from the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, and the Deputy Chairman, Tariq Saleh, while emphasizing Tihama’s role will be strengthened in future national endeavors.
The pivotal moment of the event was a speech delivered by Major General Khaled Khalil, commander of the Tihami Movement and head of its Political Bureau. “I will review with you the late leader’s struggle and his symbolic place in the hearts of the people of Tihama,” he said, before announcing a long-awaited historic moment: “From this arena, amid tears of loyalty and the call of freedom, we announce the inauguration of the Political Bureau of the Tihami Movement and the Tihami Resistance. It will be the unifying political framework for our cause, the voice of our people, and their sword and shield.”

Major General Khalil stressed that the Political Bureau is not merely an organizational party but a “fateful necessity imposed by cumulative sacrifices.” He stated that Tihama did not offer its men to be a marginalized number but to be a genuine partner in the nation, sharing in power and wealth on the basis of equal citizenship and managing its own affairs away from guardianship and exclusion. “From now on, we will not be decorations for the projects of others. We are the stance, the voice, the sword, and the shield,” he added.

Major General Khaled Khalil warned that if the people of Tihama are not granted their legitimate right to manage their regions and invest their resources, the area is “ablaze with legitimate anger,” and their grievances, if left unaddressed, could lead to unrest that threatens regional stability.

Other moving speeches were delivered by the martyred leader’s colleagues and family. Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Kawkabani spoke on behalf of the colleagues, while Masaawa Hajri, the martyr’s brother, spoke for the family. Politician Abdullah Nu’man delivered a speech on behalf of political organizations and parties. All speeches affirmed that Sheikh Abdulrahman Hajri was not merely a military leader but a comprehensive project of struggle.

The event also included a documentary film depicting the martyr’s life and heroic stands, concluding with pledges to continue the struggle in loyalty to his sacrifices.
